Come See Rehema Home for Yourself
There is something different about knowing a place firsthand.
Mission trips with Rehema Home give individuals and church teams the opportunity to step into the life of Rehema Home in Kenya—to build relationships, serve alongside our Kenyan partners, experience the local church, and see what God is doing through this remarkable family.
Our trips aren't about arriving with all the answers or assuming we know what is needed. Rehema Home is a Kenyan ministry with Kenyan leadership. We come as partners: ready to listen, learn, serve, and respond to the needs identified by those who live and lead there every day.

Every trip looks a little different.
Depending on the needs at the time, teams may participate in practical projects, spend time with the children and young adults of Rehema Home, serve alongside local ministries and churches, or help advance a specific project.
But the work is only part of the experience.
You'll eat together. Worship together. Meet people whose lives may look very different from yours. Experience Kenyan culture. Spend time with the Rehema family.
And we hope you'll come home changed.
We don't travel because we believe we have everything to give. We travel knowing we have something to learn.
What will I do?
Why do we bring teams?
It's a fair question: Wouldn't it be better to just send the money?
Sometimes, yes.
Rehema Home does not depend upon short-term teams to do work that our Kenyan partners can do themselves. We aren't interested in creating projects simply to give visitors something to accomplish.
But we've also seen what happens when people experience Rehema Home firsthand.

Names become people. Statistics become stories. A ministry thousands of miles away becomes a family you know.
People who have traveled with us often return home as advocates, donors, prayer partners, church partners and friends who remain invested long after the trip is over.
The goal isn't simply to accomplish something while we're in Kenya. It's to build relationships that endure after we leave.

Rehema Home is a Christian ministry, and our faith shapes how we understand and carry out our mission.
The children in our homes are taught about Jesus and given opportunities to grow in faith, but the love and care they receive is never dependent upon what they believe. Rehema is the Swahili word for mercy, and we believe every child has inherent and eternal value.
Our mission trips reflect that same foundation.
We don't travel to Kenya to impose our culture or faith on others. We travel to serve, learn and partner with the Kenyan leaders, churches and communities already doing the work.
Local churches are essential partners in the long-term thriving of Rehema Home. Participating in a trip may therefore include attending church with the children, spending time with Christian leaders, praying together, worshiping and talking openly about faith.
You do not have to be a Christian to travel with Rehema Home. We do ask that every participant understand who we are, respect the Christian foundation of Rehema Home, and come prepared to respectfully enter into the faith and culture of the people who are welcoming us.

Who can go?
You don't need a particular skill set, previous mission experience—or even a particular faith background—to join us.
You do need to be willing to learn, serve, remain flexible, respect a culture that may be different from your own, and follow the leadership of those who know their community best.
Some trips have a particular purpose and may require certain skills, abilities or experience. When that's the case, we'll make that clear in the information for that trip.
What should I expect?
We'll help you prepare.
Staff from the U.S. Office of Rehema Home coordinates the major details of each team experience, including international travel arrangements, accommodations, in-country transportation and team leadership.
Once you're part of a team, we'll walk you through fundraising, travel preparation, packing, cultural expectations, safety and the practical details you'll need to arrive prepared.
During the trip, we'll also make time to process what we're experiencing together—and, when possible, experience some of the extraordinary beauty of Kenya.
You don't have to arrive knowing exactly what to expect.
Come ready to serve. Come ready to learn. Come ready to become part of the family.
Not ready yet?
Maybe Kenya isn't on your calendar this year—but you'd like to know when another opportunity comes along.
Let us know you're interested. We'll keep you informed as future teams and opportunities develop.
