Triplets! Teresa, Stella, and Alice are Rehema Home Nairobi’s “terrific trio” or “triple trouble” depending on the moment. They are rarely very far apart. Their presence brings an interesting dynamic, that I’m sure only other parents of triplets can understand. Though they are not identical, they do enjoy tricking people into misidentifying them. Once you truly get to know them, there is no confusion, because they have distinctly different personalities.
Alice, the firstborn of the three, is a bit of a quiet fire. She can be competitive and strong, when she needs to be, but seems timid when you first meet her. Even though she is timid, she is also friendly and has a small sweet smile.
Teresa, the second born, is the loquacious one. She makes friends easily with her big open smile. She is also very feisty. She won’t be intimidated.
Stella, the last born, is the most stoic of the three. Don’t be mistaken, because she is very affectionate. Her smiles don’t come cheaply, but that’s why you know when she does smile, that it is genuine. Yet, as different as these three are, they are also incredibly close. They sit together to do homework and when they want to make art projects.
The girls came to us when they were three years old. They were orphaned and left to the care of their grandmother. She was also taking care of their older siblings but realized she could not do it anymore. We were happy to make Alice, Teresa, and Stella a part of our Rehema Home family. They are very bright girls and excellent students. They are much more than a novelty, they are three beautiful souls.
